NO SCRAP LEFT BEHIND:
My Life Without Food Waste
The story of a mother’s quest to end her family’s food waste--and all the blunders that came with it. Teralyn Pilgrim had no idea the environmental and economic impact of food waste, or that she could save $100 a month by being waste free. But when a story of hungry children fills her with unbearable guilt, she decides to make a change to the way her family approached mealtime. Despite finicky kids and a skeptical husband, Pilgrim turned her feelings of guilt into action and created a zero-food waste kitchen. Both a resource for families and a call for worldwide change, No Scrap Left Behind offers nine-step program and hundreds of food-related tips to help readers find their own way to sustainable living, trim the grocery bill, and effect change...starting in their own kitchens. |
DON'T DANCE ON THE TOILET
(and other things I never thought I'd say to my kids)
Being a mom isn’t at all how Teralyn thought it would be. Instead of feeding her children a well-rounded diet, she’s happy if she can keep them from eating newspaper out of the trash can. She spends most of her time stopping her toddler from dancing on the toilet.
It’s a lot of work to make children act like human beings. With everything they do, say, bite, eat, lick, break, spit on, and jump off of, it’s a wonder they make it to adulthood. Raising kids is worth it, though, and not only because we love them. It’s worth it because children are hilarious. With over 300 funny quotes, DON’T DANCE ON THE TOILET tells the side-splitting story of Teralyn’s two daughters: their adventures – their misadventures – and all the things she’s said to them, but never thought she’d have to. |

Reviews for Don't Dance on the Toilet
"Hilariously relatable"
If you have ever been embarrassed by your kid(s) to the point of wondering if you'll ever be able to go out in public again, or forgotten (ok, skipped a couple) of bath times because you were just too damn tired, this book is for you. Teralyn is unapologetically truthful in her parenting and the resulting stories are hilarious and relatable. Being a mom is scary and beautiful, disgusting and wonderful, miraculous and exhausting, thankless and joyful and frustrating all at once, and "Don't dance on the toilet " takes you through all those emotions. - Amazon reviewer As a parent, I can relate to soo many things in this book. It is hilarious from the first page to the last and is extremely well thought out. It makes me wish I had kept a log of the crazy things my kids did and said. I recommend Don’t Dance on The Toilet to anyone looking for a quick and fun read. Parents will find comradery and even if you don’t have kids, you’ll get a good laugh and a glimpse into parenthood. - Goodreads reviewer Don't Dance on the Toilet, and Other Things I Never Thought I'd Say to My Kids is wonderful from beginning to end. It showcases the humorous side of parenting young kids, (even if the situations aren’t funny at the time). Teralyn Pilgrim masterfully mixes stories with quotes at the end of every chapter. I particularly loved the ones with asterisks at the end; and her comments on the bottom of the page. Pilgrim’s non-judgemental attitude shines through on every page. I laughed out loud many times at the antics of Rose and Grace; but the quick-witted motherly responses were the best! Wish I’d have thought of some of those lines, (would sound different coming from a dad)...I wholeheartedly recommend Don't Dance on the Toilet, and Other Things I Never Thought I'd Say to My Kids to parents, grandparents, and future parents everywhere! - Amazon reviewer |
