Beyond a Bachelor's degree in English from Brigham Young University, I've done a few editing gigs. I have also put in hundreds hours volunteering, and that is where I've gained my most valuable writing experiences.

- I'm the founder and president of Hub City Writers, a local critique group that I've run for the past four years.
- I'm the Municipal Liaison for National Novel Writing Month, which means I run events and answer questions for local writers particiapting in the yearly challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days. (I've won four times.)
- Since graduating seven years ago, I've critiqued and edited countless pages of fiction for amateur writers.
- My blog Behind the Red Door - where I give mostly give writing advice - has 450 followers.
- I have kept a regular journal for the past 19 years.
